Özgür Özel's agenda-setting statement after the Israel session in the Turkish Grand National Assembly

 The Grand National Assembly of Turkey convened in closed session with the agenda of the Israeli threat. Before the closed session, where the latest developments in the region were to be discussed, the press offices in the Parliament were evacuated and the staff locked the doors. Speaking after the session, CHP Chairman Özgür Özel said, “The manipulation of the President has been revealed by the CHP.”

A closed session was held in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey with the agenda of the Israeli threat. In his opening speech before the closed session, Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey Numan Kurtulmuş said, “As the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, we must take firm steps forward in unity and solidarity against Israel's expansionist policies in the region, which we see as a national security problem.”

Answering the questions of press members after the closed session, CHP Chairman Özgür Özel said that not much more was discussed in the session than what is talked about on TV every day. Özel used the following expressions:

“THEY DIDN'T SAY ANYTHING WE DON'T KNOW”

The whole parliament listened attentively. Nothing more was said than those who spoke on TV channels in the evening. We asked them to speak under a 10-year secret record. They did not say anything we did not know. The entirety of what they said is that Turkey should not worry about what Erdoğan said, there is not a word to underline it. There is nothing that Israel will attack Turkey from today to tomorrow. I would like to express to our nation from here: Since unemployment is the most talked about issue in Turkey, since poverty is the most talked about issue in Turkey, since CHP became the first party on March 31st because of its policies without hearing the pensioners and farmers, he threw out the words that Israel will attack Turkey so that Turkey would not talk about poverty. Let there be fights like Karagöz Hacivat, let real problems not be discussed. We will talk about the real agenda of the country.

“THE PRESIDENT'S MANIPULATION WAS REVEALED BY THE CHP”

We complain to our nation. The manipulation of the President has been revealed by the CHP. Anyone who says there is a threat from Israel would be unfair to the poor people. They did not put a brick under what President Erdoğan said. They did not put a brick to justify this lie. They are uncomfortable with the agricultural rallies, with the fact that farmers will demand their rights, with the CHP becoming the first party. They are manipulating to change the agenda. If Hitler would have done it, he would have done it like this: When the Russian army came to Berlin, he would go to the concentration camp and say we must unite. They are doing something similar to this.
